🔐 Link Safety & Social Platform Guidelines

Over the past few weeks, we’ve observed multiple changes across major social platforms regarding how links are analyzed, moderated, and sometimes restricted.

After extensive testing and analysis, we’ve compiled this guide to help you keep your links safe, avoid enforcement issues, and stay aligned with platform guidelines.

📸 Instagram

Recommended Setup (All Accounts)

We do not recommend using bot protection on Instagram links.

Bot protection is considered a form of cloaking, and most social platforms explicitly discourage or penalize this behavior. While it may appear effective short-term, it can negatively impact reach, trust score, or lead to enforcement actions.

Best practices:

  • ❌ No bot protection

  • ❌ No overly sexual landing page

  • ❌ No aggressive CTAs (e.g. “CLICK NOW”, “18+”, “NSFW”)

  • ✅ Use a GetMySocial link inside each button, pointing to the destination
(avoid placing destination URLs directly on the page)

  • ✅ Deeplinks can be used on pages or buttons

  • ❌ No NSFW social preview (title, description, image)

This setup currently provides the safest long-term behavior for organic growth.

🐦 Twitter / X

  • ❌ No bot protection

  • ✅ No specific restrictions detected regarding content or linking

👽 Reddit

  • ❌ No bot protection

  • SFW landing page

  • ✅ Place external links inside buttons, not directly on the page

🎵 TikTok

Recommended setup:

  • ❌ No bot protection

  • SFW landing page

  • ✅ Deeplinks allowed on pages

  • ✅ Buttons may redirect to:

    • Any destination via GetMySocial

    • Or directly to an Instagram profile

🤖 About Instagram’s Link Moderation

Instagram has begun deploying automated integrity systems to evaluate links.

What matters in practice:

  • The analysis primarily focuses on:

    • The landing page

    • The links present on that page

  • The final redirection destination is not consistently evaluated during automated checks

  • If the system is uncertain, links may be sent to manual review

  • Links following the guidelines above pass review in the vast majority of cases

Placing external links inside buttons instead of directly exposing them reduces unnecessary risk.

⚠️ Redirecting to content that clearly violates platform rules (illegal content, explicit NSFW sites, restricted gambling, etc.) can still result in enforcement.
Platforms like OnlyFans do not violate guidelines by default.

🚨 If a Link Gets Flagged

If a link is flagged:

  • Do not reuse it

  • Change the slug (/xxxx)

  • Change the page content (profile image, background image)

Only changing the slug without modifying content significantly increases the risk of the link being flagged again.

Image Handling

  • Uploaded images are automatically modified to generate a unique fingerprint

  • Re-uploading the same image still produces a unique version

  • This also applies when editing an existing link

⚠️ Common Issue to Watch For

Always check the source code of your link provider:

  • If sensitive domains (e.g. onlyfans.com) appear directly in the HTML, this can cause enforcement issues

  • If images are visually blurred but the original image URL is still accessible, this is a risk

Remember:

Bots analyze source code, not visual appearance.

Always inspect:

  • Image URLs

  • Raw HTML output

  • Direct asset access
